Toe blow for Dogs as Foran out for month

- MATT ENCARNACION

CANTERBURY’S disappointing campaign hit another roadblock yesterday with star fiveeighth Kieran Foran ruled out for a month with a toe injury.

Foran was absent from the Bulldogs’ line-up to take on St George Illawarra on Monday, with Jeremy Marshall-King moved into the halves and Michael Lichaa back at hooker.

While veteran forward Aidan Tolman returns from an ankle issue, Foran’s injury is the latest blow for a Bulldogs outfit that have won just three games.

Like the rest of the clubs affected by State of Origin duties, the Dragons have been allowed to name a six-man extended bench as they brace for possible post-Origin withdrawals.

Parramatta were given a lift with Jarryd Hayne, Tim Mannah and Corey Norman back to face North Queensland.

But that’s been offset by the loss of star half Mitchell Moses (knee) and second-rower Tepai Moeroa (shoulder charge ban) for three weeks. The Cowboys get Matt Scott back from his shoulder charge ban.

Warriors halfback Shaun Johnson returns from an ankle injury that has kept him out for the past month as he reaches 150 games. His coach Stephen Kearney has benched Simon Mannering against Manly.

Penrith, without Peter Wallace (shoulder), have named all their Origin stars to back up against Canberra on Friday.

In Sunday fixtures, Cronulla rookie Sione Katoa has held his wing spot ahead of Sosaia Feki. They meet a Tigers side that have replaced the injured David Nofoaluma with Malakai Watene-Zelezniak.
