Blame for M1 neglect must be in Minister’s blind spot

- TIM MANDER, LNP DEPUTY LEADER

LABOR’S Mark Bailey is the worst kind of politician.

Not only did he stitch up a deal with his union mates via backchannel communication which has led to record power prices for Queenslanders, he is a Twitter troll addicted to spin.

We know this because of his constant fudging of figures in relation to Labor’s rail fail.

One day he says we have 36 “net” new drivers on the rail network, the next we learn they aren’t all drivers at all, but include tutors and train inspectors.

If Annastacia Palaszczuk thinks he is a fine Minister then it just shows how little talent her Cabinet has.

His latest flight of fantasy is around Labor’s commitment to the M1.

Mark Bailey likes to blame the previous LNP administration for all the M1’s ills. His mind goes blank when it comes to the Bligh and Beattie governments.

Labor have been in power for most of the past 20 years in Queensland. The neglect of the M1 lies squarely at Labor’s feet.

But instead of taking responsibility, Mr Bailey blames everyone else and does nothing to get the job done.

Deb Frecklington’s LNP wants to end the blame game on the M1.

That’s why she promised $1 billion straight away to fix the M1 when the Prime Minister announced the Federal Government’s commitment.

That’s why the LNP has pledged $250 million for the second M1, which will take 60,000 cars off the M1 itself.

That’s why the LNP pledged $100 million at the last election to fix the M1 on and off-ramps.

The M1 not only needs urgent upgrades to get motorists home sooner and safer, but we also need to plan for the future.

So why Annastacia Palaszczuk and her Ministers live in the past and deny any responsibility for Labor’s 20 years in office, the LNP will continue to look to the future to bust congestion and make the lives of Gold Coast motorists easier.
