PRICES FALL FASTER THAN MERCURY

- BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT

PRICES are dropping as fast as the temperature, with the Coast’s biggest shopping centres welcoming winter with a flurry of mid-year sales.

Major brands including Peter Alexander and Wallace Bishop are all offering discounts of up to 70 per cent.

Pacific Fair is expecting a massive increase in traffic throughout the sale period, with senior marketing manager Kate Halpin saying dozens of its stores were slashing their prices

“Now that Queensland is finally feeling winter, there’s no better time to stock up on jeans, jumpers, jackets and coats,” she said.

The opportunities don’t stop at Pacific Fair, with Robina Town Centre and Harbour Town also offering massive sales.

It’s time to update those neglected winter wardrobes, according to Robina Town Centre marketing manager Kobi Scott.

“A number of our retailers (have) kicked off their EOFY sales early, so whether locals are searching for new-season fashion, homewares, sportswear, accessories or gifts, there are big savings on offer for shoppers to take advantage of,” she said.

Harbour Town marketing manager Deanne Woolcock said they expected thousands from the Gold Coast and Brisbane to visit for their Get OUTlet sale.

But she made sure to note visitors could expect more than just shopping.

“Bargains aside, shoppers are encouraged to bring the family along and make a day of it, and enjoy roaming entertainers, face painting and free balloons,” she said.
