ABF seize loo rollies

BORDER Force officers have caught a traveller trying to smuggle 4.5 million cigarettes into Australia passed off as toilet paper.

The haul was discovered in several shipping containers that arrived on three separate cargo ships from Asia.

They were marked as containing toilet paper, kitchen paper towels and napkins and each consignment had 1.5 million undeclared cigarettes.

The cigarettes would have been worth $3.2 million in duty alone.

A dual Vietnamese and Australian citizen was arrested in connection with the haul at Melbourne Airport on Sunday.
