THE Police Legacy Race Day always throws up some characters. For example why do serving officers take so much delight in giving us fake names when we take their photographs for these pages? Is it because in their working environment anyone giving false details to a police officer can be charged? Hopefully the names we’ve used are correct. If anyone epitomised what Police Legacy is all about it is Sonya Yates-Leeding, the widow of murdered police officer Damian Leeding. She always attends the race day, always dresses to the nines and with new partner Maurice Yates is a living embodiment of the great work of Police Legacy.
