Residents claims stronger
BURLEIGH coach Jimmy Lenihan believes a number of usual suspects among the Bears ranks have put forward a case to be included in the Queensland Residents side.
The Residents team is selected from the premier players in the Intrust Super Cup and will face the best crop from NSW’s Intrust Super Premiership in a representative showdown on June 22 at North Sydney Oval.
Despite losing to the Northern Pride after the siren on Saturday, Burleigh remain on top of the ladder and have had several players hit form through the first half of the season.
When asked who he expects to get the call-up from Residents coach Jon Buchanan, Lenihan nominated three players who have long been
the backbone of his side.
“I don’t know … maybe Pagey (Luke Page), maybe Jamal (Fogarty), maybe (Pat) Politoni,” he said.
“They have done a good job for us so far this year so it would be a good reward for them.”
Cheyne Whitelaw looked to be a likely inclusion from Tweed, only to suffer what is feared to be a season-ending knee injury on Saturday night.
