TITANS FANS POLL RESULTS PLUS FORWARD QUITS

- AS EMMA GREENWOOD REPORTS Tomorrow’s Bulletin

TITANS fans have put their faith in the Ash Taylor-AJ Brimson halves pairing to lead the club into the future.

A poll of more than 400 fans on the Gold Coast Bulletin’s website revealed more than 70 per cent are in favour of young gun Brimson holding on to the five-eighth spot he claimed earlier this season.

Just 23 per cent of respondents preferred the Taylor and Kane Elgey combination that started the season in the halves before the Palm Beach Currumbin product was dropped.

Brimson made his debut against the Storm in Round 10 and has now played four games alongside Taylor, with the pairing likely to remain intact if the rising star can maintain his current form.

Taylor has thrown his support behind Brimson in a move that has bolstered the former Keebra Park student’s confidence in his maiden season.

“It’s nice to hear that from Ash, it’s obviously confidence boosting,” Brimson said.

“I’m just trying at the moment to find my feet in the NRL and just compliment him in the team.

“I just let him run the show and I think we’re working well together.”

Coach Garth Brennan has also backed the Taylor-Brimson combo, saying the fiveeighth spot is now Brimson’s to lose.

“At the moment it is in my hands and I want to keep my spot in the team,” Brimson said. “I took a challenge – no matter where you go in the NRL there’s going to be other halves around - so there’s always going to be a challenge to stay in the 17 and I’m enjoying the challenge.”

Brimson will line up in his fifth game of the season against the Bulldogs in Sydney on Saturday and is intent on continuing to improve his game. “Obviously I want to play every game,” he said.

“And each week just have more confidence in myself – backing myself to overcall Ash if I think something is on like I would have done in under-20s, for example, so I’m starting to do that stuff. I think it’s starting to fall into place better.”

Brimson was also rated one of the top young guns at the club, with 26 per cent of respondents rating him the best talent at the club.

Most fans (61 per cent) were firmly behind Jai Arrow through, with the former Bronco’s relentless efforts and recent Origin selection also making him the favourite player with 24 per cent of fans, ahead of Taylor (19), Anthony Don (16) and Konrad Hurrell and Ryan James (both 11).
