THE frightening events at Upper Coomera State College yesterday underscore the need for a new approach to dealing with the growing trend of online threats.
Although the likelihood of an actual shooting attack is low, the fear felt by students and parents caught up in such incidents is very real.
These are not the trivial mistakes of misguided youth.
We now live in a global village where shootings in the United States feel close to home for many young people.
Authorities need to deal firmly with those responsible for projecting terror into our schools.
