Literary winners return

TWO former Miles Franklin winners have again landed on the shortlist for Australia’s richest literary prize.

Among the contenders for the $60,000 award is 2000 and 2011 winner Kim Scott, with his latest novel Taboo.

Michelle de Kretser took out the Miles Franklin Literary Award in 2013 and returns to the shortlist with The Life to Come.

Gerald Murnane is firsttime Miles Franklin contender after a 44-year career and 13 books, many of which have won overseas acclaim.
