ARSON A POSSIBILITY IN GYM FIRE

- BRITT RAMSEY AND BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT

POLICE are treating a fire at the F45 Training gym at Pacific Pines as suspicious.

Owner Con Biviano received a call from emergency services on Saturday morning to learn his gym was ablaze.

Emergency services were sent out a second time at 11am to dampen the area after it had flared up again.

Mr Biviano said he and brother Frank built the gym four years ago from scratch.

“It was devastating to tell you the truth, to get the phone call was a bit surreal,” he said after the building was gutted.

“You think, ‘yeah a fire, how big, what capacity’, and then my daughter tells me it’s on the news.

“You sort of go, ‘oh this must be serious for it to make the news’.”

As for who might have been responsible, Mr Biviano said he had no ideas.

“We’ve never had any threats, we’ve never had any issues here,” he said.

With all buildings in the centre now closed as police determine a cause, Mr Biviano said they were just trying to pick up the pieces.

“We built these places ourselves. I do know, we’re talking about a good two or three months to get everything up and working again,” he said.
