WINNERS

Ivy’s Dream (Race 1)

Punters got off to a dream start when Ivy’s Dream was untroubled to score an all-theway win in the first race. Ivy’s Dream was sent out a solid $3.40 favourite and the John Wallacetrained three-year-old was never headed once apprentice Baylee Nothdurft let the filly slide to the front shortly after the start.

Wallander (Race 2)

This race was a repeat of the first with the punters cheering a long way from way when the $3.40 favourite Wallander raced to a five lengths win under the guidance of apprentice Clayton Gallagher. The Matt Dunntrained three-year-old was quickly out of the gates and the result was never in doubt.

In Times Of War (Race 4)

The Chris Waller-trained In Times Of War was the third favourite in the first four races to lead all the way money and keep the punters cheering.

LOSERS

Think Like A Bird (Race 7)

After a good start to the day punters were left lamenting when the short-priced favourite Think Like A Bird ($2.20) was only capable of beating two runners home in finishing in eighth position. Think Like A Bird settled in the second half of the field and Chris Whiteley tried to put the mare into the race coming to the home turn, but she failed to fire in the straight. The stewards reported that Think Like A Bird had mucus discharge from both nostrils.

Tycoon Ace (Race 8) Tycoon Ace was sent out as the short-priced favourite ($2.50) but after sharing the lead in the early and middle stages, got the wobbles in the straight to beat one runner home.

NEXT TIME

Absolutlypositivly (Race 4) Absolutlypositivly firmed from $6.50 to $3.80 at Ladbrokes and even though she didn’t win, she didn’t shirk her task and tried right to the line to finish one length from the winner Times Of War. Where there is smoke there is fire and the Bryan and Daniel Guy-trained filly is worth following in the future.

Wallander (Race 2)

Was most impressive in posting a five-lengths win and will have no trouble winning again as he starts the climb up through the grades. The punters who collected on Saturday will have plenty of confidence in backing the three-year-old the next time he steps out.
