Bennett’s D-Day looms

WAYNE Bennett’s future at the Broncos will be finalised in the next fortnight after the coach turned up the heat on Brisbane bosses after their failed bid to poach Craig Bellamy.

The Broncos confirmed D-Day was approaching for Bennett, declaring the succession plan for the NRL club can no longer “drag on”.

Bellamy agreed to terms with Melbourne on a $5.1 million, three-year extension that was formally announced by the Storm yesterday.

Bellamy’s Broncos snub has given Bennett fresh bargaining power, with the 68-year-old revealing on Saturday that he had tabled a formal proposal of his plans for the club to White.
