State duo get all clear

NSW pair James Maloney and Latrell Mitchell will start in State of Origin II after being cleared of their respective injuries by Blues medical staff on day one of camp yesterday.

Sydney Roosters fiveeighth Luke Keary was named in the 20-man squad as cover for Maloney, who picked up a back injury in Penrith’s loss to the Roosters on Friday but is expected to recover.

Mitchell also sent a scare through Roosters and Blues camps after being stretchered off in the same game with a neck injury, but scans also cleared him of serious damage.

Both players are likely to be on light duties over the start of the week before Sunday.
