Killer granted bail despite no body
A KILLER who helped bash to death a Gold Coast man in 2015 has become the first person released under the new No Body, No Parole laws.
Clinton Earl Lee Stockman helped bash Greg Dufty on the night of July 16.
Mr Dufty became unresponsive 30 seconds into a twominute beating and was later tied with his hands behind his back and repeatedly punched in the back of the head.
The attack was retribution for stolen cannabis, a court would later hear.
His body was then so intensely burnt that no trace of it was ever found.
Stockman, along with coaccused Liam Rhawiti Bliss, Nelson Andrae Patea and Aaron John Crawford were all jailed for manslaughter.
Lionel John Patea was jailed for murder.
Stockman pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter and misconduct with regards to a corpse on February 9, 2016.
He applied for parole in March, with the Parole Board yesterday declaring that Stockman had done all he could to help police find Mr Dufty’s remains.
He told police where Dufty was burnt and attended the scene with them, which was the main factor in his release on parole, the decision reads.
