Finch says slump hits team hard

-

AARON Finch admits Australian cricket’s batting woes are taking their toll on the one-day international team.

The world champions have slumped to sixth in the ICC rankings – their lowest position in more than 30 years – and are 2-0 down to England.

Tim Paine’s side needed a win at Trent Bridge last night to keep the five-match series alive.

Australia had won just two of their past 15 matches and have lost their past three series against New Zealand, India and England.

“In the last couple of series we’ve been below par and really behind the eight ball from the start, ” Finch said.

“It’s frustrating. At times, I think we’re playing some good cricket but we’re making some mistakes that seem to be happening pretty regularly. Mainly as a batting group.”
