Crackdown on crims

TAKING unexplaine­d wealth from criminals across Australia is part of the Federal Government’s plan to target illegal operations costing the nation upwards of $36 billion a year.

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton says serious and organised crime syndicates are operating in an increasing­ly fluid way across state and territory borders.

The Government has introduced legislatio­n allowing law enforcemen­t agencies to confiscate assets of criminals where they can’t show the wealth has been lawfully obtained.
