Dog ends chase
TWEED police have chased down a man who led them on a car chase throughout Banora Point last week.
Police first noticed the stolen car being driven on Sexton Hill Dve and initiated a pursuit.
The car was abandoned on Darlington Drive and the man fled on foot and eluded police a number of times before a police dog tracked the man down in nearby scrub land.
During the arrest the man, 33, assaulted police and violently resisted arrest, attempting to use a stick.
Once in custody he was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained during his arrest.
