Why repeat others’ errors, jeopardising what we have?

-

RETURNING from a holiday in Greece, I revelled again in that sense of comfort and wellbeing when returning to what we Australians laud as the best country in the world; our lucky country.

The Balkans have their own issues and troubled history to deal with; particularly the thousands of years of conflict and cultural subjugation by others but Australia’s emergence in the 18th and 19th centuries and our history since is a much softer story.

With the knowledge of those other countries and their tragic recent stories, it saddens and annoys me that we are squandering the huge advantage afforded us by hard work and good fortune. It seems we have no idea how we came to be here and appears we do not value the blood sweat and tears spent to achieve it.

The first newspaper I picked up on my return highlighted an almost manic preoccupation with masochistic stupidity such as; endlessly ridiculing the leader of the Free World, of which we are a part; gender neutral toilets and salutations that could only have come out of the feeble minds of fairies who want to put us in another place and planet; a university sponsored brain fart masquerading as “artistic dance” from an immature creator hell bent on payback for what she thinks is her own racial disadvantage and using racism to make her point; a clown in a Marxist-inspired red bandana trying to destroy the inarguably best and most stable political system in the world from no better personal experience than being reasonably good at football; and not to mention our endless and arrogant fetish with saving the world from “global warming”.

We are the ultimate mouse trying to roar and an embarrassment to boot. It begs the question: Why do we tolerate these idiots?

We have the ability to observe safely and independently from afar, the coming and goings of the rest of the world and avoid their mistakes. But no, we are infatuated with our own voices shouting “Look at us, aren’t we so clever and progressive”.

The most saddening aspect of our cleverness is our ignorant stumblings, incrementally and inexorably towards socialism, an ideology that has failed so many times in world history that only morons would entertain it.

This stupidest of stupid follies sounds and looks awfully like the death throes of a once beautiful democracy. We are running out of time to wake up.
