Hope Island shares loss

-

PETER Thomson’s legacy extends to the Gold Coast, where he co-designed the course now known as Links Hope Island.

In the early 1990s, it was Thomson and his design partner Mike Wolveridge who began the task of turning what was essentially a swamp into one of Australia’s best 18-hole layouts.

Tracey-Lea Tiley, general manager at Links Hope Island, yesterday said Thomson was a well-respected figure.

“What an honourable person he was and as the original course designer of Links Hope Island we are greatly saddened by his loss today,” she said.

“We send our best wishes to Mary and his family.”
