Wallabies work on their frustrations
KURTLEY Beale concedes he and the Wallabies have to be better at shrugging off frustrations within a Test match after the star playmaker was hooked in the last quarter of the second Test loss against Ireland in Melbourne.
Beale was brilliant in the first Test in Brisbane but had a largely unhappy night in Ireland’s bounce-back win at AAMI Park.
He scored a try in the 90th second but Beale couldn’t find his mojo thereafter, with some inaccurate kicking and passing. His frustrations on the field were often clear to see.
In a rare sight, Beale was taken off by coach Michael Cheika in the 64th minute and replaced by Reece Hodge, even as the Wallabies were chasing points to steal a win.
“It was a very frustrating game, and very hard to get into it,” Beale said ahead of Saturday night’s series decider in
Sydney.
“They obviously had a lot of the possession, and in key moments of the game. So we were defending a lot.
“I guess it is just one of those things where Cheik thought it was a good change.”
Beale said the Wallabies needed to just focus on winning the next moment, rather than venting their frustration.
“That’s something we have to work on,” he said.
