Wilkins reaches out to grieving family

AUSTRALIAN TV’s celebrity interviewer Richard Wilkins helped comfort a grieving Gold Coast family a day out from Sunday’s big Logies awards bash.

The Channel 9 Australia Entertainment Editor was at the Gold Coast Suns game at Metricon on Saturday when Dave Vogel asked if he would mind meeting the rest of his family. The Vogels are mourning the loss of son, brother, father of three and husband Nathan Vogel. The 36-yearold died in hospital last week after a tragic accident on his bicycle when riding home in Burleigh last weekend.

“I just mentioned it to Richard and he said ‘I’ll do whatever you want me to do’,” Mr Vogel said. “I just said ‘Come in and cheer everyone up a bit’. He had no problem with it.”

Nathan’s youngster sister Sigrid said of Wilkins: “He said to everyone how he was so sorry. He was really beautiful.”
