WHO: Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk

WHERE: The Screen Queensland/Stan cocktail party in Nineteen at The Star Gold Coast

WHAT SHE WORE: As a very busy woman, the Premier, like many of her political sisters, has to tread that fine line between practicality and being on show for everyone to judge. In that respect she nailed it with her Scanlan dress matched with Stuart Weitzman shoes and jewellery by Tiffany and Georg Jensen.

STYLE ICONS: “My grandmother Beryl Erskine, who is now 93, has been a tremendous influence on my life. She was a fantastic dressmaker and the lessons she passed on to myself and my mother on dressing well and for the occasion have always stayed with me. Another person whose style I admire is Dame Quentin Bryce. She is a shining light as both a style icon and a role model. For designers I always go for Australian so brands such as Sportscraft and Witchery are favourites because they make clothes that work for me. Another is young Brisbane designer Daniel Moore. The dresses I wore at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games were his designs. My own style is classic and elegant and I do like beading as I think it adds something to an evening gown. Another thing for me is comfortable but stylish shoes. I have to be on my feet a lot so these by Stuart Weitzman are so good I bought three pairs in different colours.”
