A building trend in shortrange S and E swells sets in throughout Tuesday, rising to a windblown 2 to 3ft plus across exposed areas during the afternoon. This episode holds potential for a larger 3 to 5ft peak across the region on Thursday morning, with a slow easing trend to follow through the remainder of the week.

TODAY

Junky mix of E and S windswells. Up to a junky 2 to 3ft exposed northern NSW beaches, grading to 1 to 2ft+ southern QLD breaks. Picking up into the afternoon. Expect smaller surf in the 1ft+ range along the points and inside the bays. WIND: Early SW to SSW 10 to 20 knots tending S, then SSE 15 to 25 knots during the afternoon.

TOMORROW

Potential for consistent, short period E swell up to 3 to 4ft+ exposed open beaches, easing later. Grading to 2 to 3ft+ inside the points and bays. WIND: Lighter SW to SSW inshore early, tending SE

15 to 20 knots, then ESE and easing to 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon.

THURSDAY

Easing E swell around 3 to 4ft exposed beaches early, settling towards 2 to 3ft+ during the day. Grading smaller inside the points and bays. WIND: Early light and variable inshore tending ENE 5 to 10 knots, then up to 5 to 15 knots during the afternoon.

FRIDAY

E tradewind swell around 2 to 3ft+ exposed breaks, grading smaller inside the points and bays. WIND: WNW 5 to 10 knots early, tending N 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon.

SATURDAY

E tradewind swell around 2ft+ exposed QLD breaks, slowly fading during the day. Grading smaller inside the points and bays. WIND: Early light WNW to NW tending N 10 to 15 knots during the arvo.
