Gilbert’s a SUP-er star

FORMER ironwoman champion Karla Gilbert continues to lead the pack in her second sporting coming in stand-up paddleboard (SUP) racing.

Gilbert was among several Gold Coasters to scoop the pool at the Immerse SUP and Paddle Festival at Noosa.

Gilbert claimed the open women’s technical race from fellow ironwoman champion, Noosa’s Jordan Mercer and Ke’ale Dorries of Elanora, after also winning the marathon event. She will compete at the Australian SUP titles in November.

Helensvale’s Tim Cyprien won the open men’s division, Kazuki Yamada won the open men’s community division and Benowa’s Abbie Walkerdene, 15, took out the junior women’s division.
