Should’ve listened to his mum
A GOLD Coast man has landed in jail after ignoring his mum’s pleas not to rob a Robina convenience store.
Days later he was in hot water again when police tried to stop him driving a stolen car.
Instead he drove away, dragging a police officer who was trying to open the door.
Salem Ronald Sesay, 29, pleaded guilty in Southport District Court to eight charges including robbery with violence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Judge Catherine Muir sentenced Sesay, who was on parole at the time, to two-and-ahalf years prison and disqualified him from holding a licence for three years.
Sesay was released on parole in January last year. He had been serving a four-year sentence for robbery.
The court heard in July last year Sesay went into a Robina convenience store and demanded money.
His mother had tried to talk him out of the robbery but had been unsuccessful.
“You pushed the complainant with enough force for him to stumble backwards,” Ms Muir said. “This would have been a very frightening experience for the complainant.”
Ms Muir encouraged Sesay to continue to do courses while in prison so when released he could be a good parent to his four young children.
