A CAR parked at an intersection and another “parked” in a lake capped a weekend spate of alleged drink driving offences across the Gold Coast region.

On Saturday night, a woman’s licence was suspended after police found her illegally parked in the middle of an Murwillumbah intersection.

Around 7.15pm, police found a parked silver Hyundai Getz blocking traffic at the intersection of Brisbane St and Proudfoots Lane.

Police allegedly found an intoxicated 51-year-old Bray Park woman behind the wheel.

When questioned why she was parked there, she allegedly told police it was the closest park she could find to the bottle shop.

She allegedly blew 0.1555 – three times the legal limit.

Earlier in the day, an alleged drink driver crashed a car into a pond behind the Helensvale Westfield Shopping Centre.

Police shared a photo on Facebook of a car roof just above the water’s surface, with the caption “Police are on scene at Helensvale where an alleged drink driver has driven her car into the drink aka a pond #worstplanB”.

The woman was transported to hospital with minor injuries, and her car was towed out of the water.

She has not been charged. And on Friday night a Shailer Park man was caught drink driving more than twice the legal limit.

At around 11.45pm police stopped a Mitsubishi Mirage on Ducat St, Tweed Heads for a random breath test.

The 22-year-old driver returned a positive result. He was placed under arrest and taken to the Tweed Heads Police Station for a breath analyses, where he returned a reading of 0.103. His license was immediately suspended and he will appear at the Tweed Heads Local Court on July 23.
