$1800 fine for casino outburst

-

A GOLD Coast man entered the casino gaming pit at the Star and started pushing staff after they repeatedly told him he was not allowed to use his mobile phone at the gaming tables, a court has heard.

Glazier, Lachlan James Stitt, 24, yesterday pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court to one count each of disorderly conduct and refusing to leave a casino following outbursts on June 24. The court was told Stitt was taken into the offices of the casino crime squad for where he constantly swore at police officers.

Stitt was then escorted from the casino, but he continued to abuse staff and swear.

When Stitt refused to leave the casino, police arrested him.

Duty lawyer Mollie Roper, of Cooper Maloy Legal, told the court Stitt had gone to the casino to take his mind off a friend who had recently been diagnosed with brain cancer.

Ms Roper told the court Stitt had booked in with mental health organisation Headspace before the offending.

Magistrate Kerrie O’Callaghan fined Stitt $1800. She did not record a conviction.

“Clearly you created a disturbance,” Ms O’Callaghan Told Stitt.
