Burger has no beefs

A REVOLUTION­ARY plantbased burger that “sizzles and bleeds” is to be sold alongside real beefburger­s in chilled cabinets in the UK.

The Beyond Burger sold out when first launched in the US and is now heading to Britain where growing numbers are turning away from red meat.

The manufactur­er, Beyond Meat, describes it as the “world’s first plant-based burger that looks, cooks, and tastes like a fresh beef burger”.

It is made with Canadian yellow peas, coconut, potato and beetroot juice.

Normally, the vegetarian and vegan alternativ­es to meat are sold in specific aisles and freezer cabinets at supermarke­ts, however Beyond Meat insisted its burgers should be available fresh alongside real meat burgers.

The burgers will go on sale in 350 Tesco outlets from next month.
