Pioli’s hopes crash down

COOLANGATTA’S Dane Pioli has been beaten in the final of the iconic Whalebone Longboard Classic in Perth, going down to Manly’s Jack Entwhistle in a wave-starved decider.

Entwhistle’s win gave him successive Whalebone Classic titles and handed him the World Surf League’s Australia/Oceania regional championship on a countback from Pioli.

“Dane beat me in the LQS final up in Kingscliff earlier this year so it was nice to get one back on him,” Entwistle said.
