Locals in D’bah mix

GOLD Coast’s Ty Richardson has progressed in the 14 and under boys comp on day three of the Occys Grom Comp at Duranbah beach.

More than 200 young guns will take to the surf as part of the six-day event, with Richardson yesterday leading the local charge, only needing to surf four waves to get his best two and move to round three.

Leo Casal (Coolangatta) achieved one of the highest wave scores of the day with a 9.4 (out of a possible 10.00), while Jay Occhilupo (Elanora) timed his run late in his heat to move into round three.
