Roos fire a flag threat

-

ROBINA’S women’s team sounded an ominous warning to the competition when it annihilated Alexandra Hills by 119 points in Round 10 of QWFA Division 2 South at the Roo Pen on Saturday.

Captain Hannah Blaine dominated the centre clearances, combining with vice-captain Courtney Millington, whose speed across the 50m arc caused headaches for the Bombers.

Inside that arc, the Roos forwards traded goals, with Sarah Ellis racking up five.

The big home crowd was also treated to superb kicking from agile Rhi Mathews, who nabbed two majors, as well as a fine performance from Kahle Boylen in a sweeping role.

Robina never took their foot off the throat of Alexandra Hills, piling on goals until the final whistle to keep the visitors scoreless and record the side’s biggest win of the season, 18.11 (119) to 0.

The reserves also made their finals intentions clear by hammering Beenleigh 14.19 (103) to 5.8 (38) in Round 13 of QFA Division 2. Robina’s sixgoal-to-nil second quarter blew the Buffaloes off Scottsdale Reserve and the Roos then extended their half-time lead of 43 to win by 65.

Robina’s seniors, however, were left to rue their inaccuracy in front of the posts, going down to Beenleigh 11.21 (87) to 2.17 (29).
