FROM BEAR TO ROOSTER

TAZMIN’S NRL FUTURE

- CONNOR O’BRIEN

TAZMIN Gray will join Burleigh club teammate Zahara Temara at the Sydney Roosters for the inaugural NRL Women’s Premiership this year.

Gray’s place in the tournament was up in the air after her name didn’t surface during the main burst of contract announcements last month but the Bulletin has learnt that she has struck a deal with the Roosters in the past fortnight.

The second-rower has been in excellent form for the Bears and played in their 34-4 win over West Brisbane on Saturday.

She earned a Queensland jersey for the first official women’s State of Origin clash last month only four months after giving birth to her second daughter.

Gray, 22, is looking forward to the challenge of joining some new names at Bondi and playing against some of her usual teammates.

Burleigh forwards Tallisha Harden, Rona Peters and Chelsea Lenarduzzi will all line up for the Broncos.

“For me I guess I just wanted to get out of my comfort zone and play alongside a whole different bunch of girls who I haven’t played with before,” Gray said.

At SEQ club level, the Bears’ victory against the Panthers extended their undefeated streak to nine games.

Their last task ahead of finals comes on Sunday against the most recent team to defeat them – Easts – at Langlands Park.

“Tigers are always a hard game,” Gray said.
