NOW WE’RE THE LOCKY COUNTRY

- BRITT RAMSEY britt.ramsey@news.com.au

A DOOR clicks shut, trapping you in a windowless, darkened room.

No time for small talk. You have just 60 minutes to solve a trail of clues to lead you to the exit.

Do you think you could crack it?

This is the intense and popular world of escape rooms.

Sean Wilson is the mastermind behind Padlockd, the Gold Coast’s second escape room venue.

After opening in March, the Cavill Ave business is already looking to expand.

“In the early days we were getting about five bookings a week, putting out a lot of advertising,” he said.

“Now ... we’re getting a minimum five bookings a day and even turning people away.”

Mr Wilson said Padlockd had hosted individuals, groups, tourists and corporate events. “It’s something different and fun, seeing how well people work together,” he said. “It’s such a rush for people trying to get out in time.”
