New Made in Aus head
THE new head of the Australian Made Campaign said there was still work to be done to ensure that shoppers chose products bearing the green and gold logo.
Ben Lazzaro, who has been deputy of the campaign for two years, takes over from Ian Harrison next month.
“While enormous progress has been made, there is opportunity for the Australian Made team to further strengthen this Australian icon, here and overseas,” he said.
“The challenge ahead is to build on this success, evolve the Australian Made offering and continue to deliver value to Australian manufacturers and growers, as well as consumers the world over.”
More than 2700 local businesses are registered to use the green and gold logo on around 20,000 products.
However, the introduction of mandatory country of origin labelling for food will see that extended.
The labelling, effective from July 1, covers most foods for retail but does not cover food sold in restaurants and cafes.
