Tomic falters in first round
BERNARD Tomic’s latest attempt to rejoin the ATP Tour’s elite has fallen at the first hurdle at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport, Rhode Island, in the US
The Gold Coaster won his spot in the main draw with qualifying victories over Austin Krajicek and Alessandro Bega before facing Dudi Sela in the first round, where he lost 6-3, 1-6, 6-2.
Joining Tomic on the way out were countrymen Alex Bolt and Alex de Minaur. Bolt, 25, was beaten 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 by American Christian Harrison.
