Top Coast restaurant shuts doors
ONE of the Gold Coast’s most popular restaurants has closed
Sparrow Eating House at Nobby Beach announced last night would be their last evening of service.
Owned by Andrew Whiting, who also owns hugely popular Elk Espresso at Broadbeach, the side street haunt was this year voted in the Top 100 restaurants in Queensland by Delicious Magazine.
The venue announced news of its closure on Instagram yesterday, saying after three-anda-half years they would not be renewing their lease.
“Just wanted to say a huge good bye and thank you to everyone who has supported Sparrow over the last 3.5 years!” the post read.
“Tonight we are booked out and it was such a great feeling to end Sparrow on a high.
“Unfortunately we decided not to re-sign our new lease.”
The post received almost 700 responses expressing shock and sadness.
The Bulletin has reached out to Mr Whiting for comment.
