Assistance offered for seniors events

MEMBER for Tweed Geoff Provest is calling on local organisati­ons to apply for a share of $200,000 to host events encouragin­g older people to join or feature in 2019 NSW Seniors Festival events.

“We want our seniors to thrive in the community, and the festival provides opportunit­ies for older people to not only enjoy entertainm­ent, but get involved and share their talents with our community,” Mr Provest said.

The 2019 NSW Seniors Festival runs from February 13-24 and organisati­ons are encouraged to plan now, with three funding categories available:

• Tier 1 grants of up to $1000 for small-scale events or activities targeted at community organisati­ons and schools.

• Tier 2 grants from $1,001 to $5000 for local events targeted at larger community organisati­ons.

• Tier 3 grants from $5,001 to $10,000 for broader community events targeted at local councils in partnershi­p with organisati­ons and groups.
