‘Wannabe bikie’ to stay out of pubs

-

AN ALLEGED wannabe Bandido will not be able to go to any licensed pub, club or hotel in Queensland under strict bail conditions imposed

Christopher Rees, 22, is alleged to have been a prospect for outlaw motorcycle gang the Bandidos and was charged with allegedly consorting with bikie gang members.

Defence lawyer Corey Cullen, of Cullen Lawyers, yesterday told Southport Magistrates Court Rees would agree to stringent bail conditions being imposed.

The conditions included not going to a licensed premises, not contacting any member of the Bandidos, no use of encrypted messaging apps such as What’s App and Hush Mail and not attending a place he believes, or knows, to be frequented by a Bandidos.

The strict bail conditions were imposed after Rees pleaded guilty to breaching previous bail conditions.

The court heard Rees had, in early June, been ordered to live in a Labrador address but had moved out later that month without informing police.

Ms O’Callaghan took into account time spent in custody and convicted Rees on the bail breach but ordered no further punishment. He will return to court on the consorting charge next month.
