FISHING

-

FRESHWATER: Bass still in the river and redclaw in Somerset Dam. For the most part fish are still quiet in the upper reaches and will remain dormant until conditions begin to warm up. Brim, flathead and jewfish can still be found active throughout the river systems.

BROADWATER: Bream and flathead in the Seaway along with the occasional jewfish and snapper trailing in from offshore. Tailor and trevally out east of Sovereign Islands and west of Sea World. Flathead also from Bayview Harbour to Paradise Point along the foreshore.

OFFSHORE: Snapper the main catch at the moment, spreading from the close reefs out as far as 50 fathoms. Best time of day is just on sunrise and just before sunset, with the 18-24 fathom reefs east of Surfers Paradise a prime location. Kingfish and amberjack also on the 50 fathom reefs.
