RESTAURANT EXPANSION STAYS LOCAL

- KIRSTIN PAYNE

A NEW family friendly restaurant with a “Local’’ edge has emerged in the wake of a string of closures at Hope Island and Paradise Point.

Four Birds Local Taphouse & Grill on The Esplanade at Paradise Point, formerly owned by Anthony Rigas and Louise Huxham, has been bought by successful businesswoman Natalie Perry, who is giving it a new name – The Local.

The closure of the cafe had followed the collapse of other restaurants in the area including New York New York, Manhattan on Hope and Tiffany’s cafe, leaving over 40 staff out of work.

Mrs Perry, who has owned Cafe 7 at Paradise Point for close to a decade, was confident she could deliver to the local market.

“I own the cafe next door so I knew the place pretty well, and had approached the previous owner to buy the business,” Mrs Perry said.

The Local at Paradise Point hosts its grand opening on Friday.
