Ill wind for Pakenham
RACING Victoria has no plans to transfer meetings from Pakenham, despite the abandonment of two meetings there in eight days because of extreme winds.
Stewards called off yesterday’s meeting after just one race when violent wind gusts compromised horse and jockey safety.
The decision to abandon the meeting at the $60 million Tynong venue follows last Tuesday’s abrupt end to the program after only one race because of wind.
The loss of 16 races over the two Pakenham meetings will have a heavy impact on wagering turnover.
RV said meeting at Pakenham on Sunday would proceed as scheduled.
