- BRENT O’NEILL brent.oneill@news.com.au

BACK-TO-BACK ITF titles have given Runaway Bay’s Olivia Gadecki the perfect launching pad to lead an Australian assault at September’s Junior Fed Cup Finals in Hungary.

Gadecki, 16, and Amber Marshall claimed the girls doubles crown at the Gold Coast Junior International on Sunday, backing up their successful efforts at the Queensland Junior Championships in Brisbane a week earlier.

A member of the Australian team that won the Junior Fed Cup’s AsiaOceania event in Malaysia in April, Gadecki will now continue preparations for the final in Budapest from September 25-30.

The Activa Tennis Academy starlet, who also made the singles semi-finals on the Coast and won a Grade 4 ITF tournament in Thailand in 2016, said she would head to Europe full of confidence after her recent performances.

“It’ll be good, I can’t wait,” said Gadecki, who has been playing since the age of three.

“Representing Australia is a big (highlight) for me, that’s my favourite.

“In Malaysia, it was tough, it was a big week but the girls did really well and pulled through so it was good.

“I’m just looking for good matches and a lot of match play.

“I want to be able to play professionally.

“Top 100 would be nice but top 10 is even better.

“I just want to enjoy it and take it as it comes.”
