WA escapee on the run

A WEST Australian prison escapee remains on the run after a mass breakout during a riot that saw fires lit and guards pepper-sprayed.

Police initially believed 12 men had escaped from Greenough Regional Prison near Geraldton in WA’s Mid West on Tuesday afternoon but later said 10 had fled the jail.

Nine prisoners have been recaptured but Bradley Silvester, 35, remains at large.

It is believed inmates scaled a perimeter fence when prison officers went to extinguish a cell fire.
