HYPOTHETICAL ROT

-

LET’S play Hypothetical. First contestant, Labor MP Chris Whiting, who is tasked with coming to the Gold Coast to explain the “hypothetical’’ insurance premium increases arriving in the letter boxes of furious home owners.

As the Opposition sought answers at the Estimates committee hearing over the state model used for Gold Coast flood mapping and the impact this was having, Mr Whiting – as chairman – kept shutting down the questions, declaring it all hypothetical. So just hypothetically, if he were to visit our city, there might be a hostile reception. It is time the Labor Government thought hard about decisions it makes that hurt the Gold Coast. The flood mapping debacle, which has caused deep concern for most residents, is typical of the Brisbane-based government’s dismissal of matters of huge importance to Gold Coast citizens.
