RESTAURANT CLOSURE A SURPRISE

- SALLY COATES

ANOTHER restaurant has shut up shop on the Gold Coast.

Award-winning Palm Beach restaurant 8th Ave Terrace has announced this would be its last week of trading.

The closure comes as a surprise to many, as the multi-level venue with an open terrace and ocean views seemed to have high patronage and nabbed a spot in the Queensland Delicious 100 for 2017.

Owners Shannon BaierDry and Jordan Stubbs also own Espresso Moto Palm Beach, established in 2014, and Espresso Moto Coolangatta, which only opened this month. 8th Ave Terrace’s news comes after another highly regarded restaurant, Sparrow Eating House run by experienced restaurateur Andrew Whiting, closed last week.

Co-owner Mr Baier-Dry declined to comment on the reasons for 8th Ave Terrace’s closure.
