PROFESSIONAL Brad Doherty has claimed victory by two shots in the Windaroo Lakes Pro-Am, holding off the charge of the Gold Coaster.

Doherty, 18, started the day two shots off the pace and fired a solid 5-under par 67 yesterday to storm home with a tournament total of 7-under par for his maiden win on the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series.

“I only missed one green for the day which certainly takes the pressure off and gave me plenty of birdie opportunities”, Doherty said.

“I was really pleased with my finish; I made four birdies in my last nine holes.

“Scoring was difficult with some tight pin positions and that wind made it hard to get it close.”

Professional Aaron Pike finished outright second, firing a round of 1-under par 71 for a tournament total of 5-under, with Gold Coast’s Michael Sim in a tie for third at 4-under.

The next stop on the ProAm Series is today at the Kooralbyn Valley Resort.
