THE country’s top lifesavers will swap the surf for still water next weekend when Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) holds its national pool championsh­ips in Adelaide.

About 400 competitor­s from 50 surf lifesaving clubs are expected to take part in the event, a test run for the world titles at the South Australian Aquatic Centre in December.

The 2018 SLSA Interstate Pool Rescue Championsh­ips will also be held next weekend, with the Queensland Cyclones attempting to hold on to their crown.

Gold Coast and Northern NSW clubs including Northcliff­e, Cudgen, Currumbin, Kirra, Kurrawa, Southport,

Tugun, Tweed Heads and Coolangatt­a will take part in the event. Queensland team for interstate championsh­ips:

Female: Under-14 Lily Nicolson, Lila Horobin; Under-15 Jessica Oates, Tayla Halliday; Under-17 Summer Short, Hamana Williams; Under-19 Lani Pallister, Jamie Cotter; Open Prue Davies, Mariah Jones, Chelsea Gillett, Rachel Eddy

Male: Under-14 Matt Magnussen, Darcy Rienke; Under-15 Joseph McMenamin, Corbin Zahn; Under-17 Kurt Lorme, Ruben Zikarsky; Under-19 Jacob Loughnan, Steven Coombes; Open Matt Davis, Sam Bell, Jackson Chapman, Luke Benson.
