COURTING A BOLD OFFER

TONY Fung, a billionaire with a lust for the racing industry, and his Aquis group had a penchant last year to own tennis courts.

A bid, apparently around $5 million, was lobbed in for Main Beach Pde tower Equinox’s twin half-courts, which are on land abutting the site on which Aquis has approval for a six-star hotel.

Equinox owners rejected the offer and reportedly said “make an offer on the whole building”. The upshot – a $48 million offer has landed.
