THE Southport School will go into their celebrations for 100 years of GPS rugby on track to win a second straight title.

TSS beat Brisbane State High 37-5 on Saturday at Carina, a week after dispatching Churchie 40-5 in Round 1.

The school’s director of rugby Adrian Blundell praised the ability of the first XV’s forwards who laid the foundation for another big win.

“It was a really physical encounter,” Blundell said.

“It was an unseasonably hot day so it took its toll. Our best

were all in the forwards.”

Lock Wilson Blyth was man-of-the-match, closely followed by Luc Lyndon and Hugh Robinson. TSS won the 2017 premiership and have stated their case to win another following such a successful start to the season.

“We are still in with a chance,” Blundell said as they chase an 11th title overall.

“With no finals, as long as you keep winning you are in with a shot. That is what we are working towards and we are sitting all right at the moment.”

TSS return home to play Toowoomba this week in what will form the school’s celebrations for 100 years of GPS.
