FIREBIRDS MISS VITAL POINT
FIREBIRDS captain Gabi Simpson admits it was “a little bit disappointing’’ to let an invaluable bonus point go begging in the 67-46 victory against the Adelaide Thunderbirds at Boondall yesterday.
But the skipper believes the way Queensland clicked into gear after the frenetic and fruitless first quarter will give the Firebirds momentum heading into Saturday’s must-win Suncorp Super Netball clash with Collingwood.
The Firebirds lost small but significant ground in the increasingly tense race for finals spots when they failed to get the maximum four bonus points with the tied first quarter having the potential to come back and haunt Queensland.
“Every single point is really important to make finals. It is a little bit disappointing but Thunderbirds came out extremely strong,’’ she said.
